Battle of the Babies Mamas

September 23, 2007 · 4 Comments

Poor Kim Porter. She’s finally rejoined us from her trip down “denial” now that she’s broken up with P. Diddy. Now she’s running her mouth to any celebrity rag who will listen. Another ridiculous interview with Essence where she bemoans the fact that her “man” had impregnated another woman, how she’s going to focus on her career (as if she has been anything other than a babies mama) and her new found courage to walk away from her relationship. (YAWN) Sounds like she got dumped to me.

What Kim Porter knew about the other woman (women) and when she knew it doesn’t really matter, especially if you read the exclusive interview with Sarah Chapman (Diddy’s other babies mama) over on Sandra Rose’s blog. In defense of Miss Chapman, she has shunned the spotlight while Porter has actively pursued it. When you put yourself out there like Porter, you should expect to be humiliated and embarrassed when your man has dumped you for someone else. Porter spoke disparagingly about Jennifer Lopez, the “little Puerto Rican girlfriend” but look who has the last laugh now? Porter didn’t approve of Diddy’s high profile relationship with Lopez and responded by insulting Lopez when she should have summoned every ounce of her self-respect and left the man.

I’m still going to talk about P. Diddy, another black man who prefers to impregnate women rather than marry them. Players and pimps get more “props” than fathers and husbands. There is no honor in being a “babies mama” and neither is having five children by three different women. I don’t care how much money you have. A fat child support check is no substitute for being a real father to your children. Being Diddy’s “jump-off” for 13 years doesn’t make Chapman any better than a struggling unwed mother; in spite of her being “friends” with Diddy, she has to call him every month for her child support check.

This whole situation is sad and is an excellent example of why the black family is being decimated. Women, no matter how educated, are willing to settle for any piece of a man whether they have to share him with another woman or not. Are we that desperate? Judging by this well documented drama of Diddy’s babies mamas, it sure sounds like it.

I have always thought that Kim Porter was a sad and poor example of black women. I never understood why a reputable mag such such Essence, would put Kim and Diddy on a cover and actually promote that poor excuse of a “relationship”. Kim Porter is exactly the sterotype of woman we as Black women are trying to escape. She always has something negative to say about Jennifer Lopez (and I’m no Lopez fan) but Jennifer, for all intent and purposes, is a happily “married” woman who you never hear any gossip about her or her husband. Sounds like a little jealously there to me.

Why, oh why in the world would Kim put herself out there like that? And then to go the extra mile to bad-mouth Jennifer Lopez? That irks me to no end! What nerve! At least Ms. Lopez was woman enough to put Diddy on blast and and walk away with an empty uterus, not willing to be another one of Diddy’s fools (go ‘head Jenny-from-the-block!). She said ‘give me a ring or I’m walkin. I deserve more’. And now, with Marc Anthony, she got what she wanted and didn’t have to settle. She was not trying to be baby mama number three…oh, wait, she would be four. And as far as Kim’s career – I saw her on ‘Wicked Games’ and she looked sorry. Maybe Kim just likes collecting rich men’s babies. She told Essence that she didn’t care about Diddy’s money, but what other reason was there for her to stay? She can only play the victim for so long – she needs to take a long look in the mirror. She played herself. The only victims are her kids.

It seems to me like this women’s careers are to have rich, famous guys’ babies. They make good money for life in only 9 months. All of Diddy’s baby mommas are now set for life. They don’t got to work if they don’t feel like it. The check will be in the mail every month for child support. How sad? As the person before stated the only victims are the babies who now have to grow up in that kind of life.
